County Monaghan

Set in the middle of the drumlin belt, Monaghan takes its name from the Irish:  “Muineachan”, meaning the place of the thickets.  This describes the unspoiled landscape of Monaghan, with its hills, rivers and lakes; it has a rich wild life and beautiful scenery.

Ideally located at equal distance from both Dublin and Belfast, Monaghan offers a wide variety of activities and caters for many tastes for both outdoor pursuits and sports.

Monaghan is also very rich culturally and it has inspired many poets and musicians.
